League Types

Intuition and Fantasy offers several different league formats to match your preferred playing style:

Head-to-Head

Compete directly against another manager each week. The team with the most fantasy points at the end of the week wins the matchup.

Best for: Those who enjoy direct competition and weekly challenges.

Rotisserie

Teams are ranked in multiple statistical categories, earning points based on their ranking in each category. The team with the most total points wins.

Best for: Managers who prefer a season-long balanced approach across all stats.

Daily Fantasy

Draft a new team every day within a salary cap constraint. Compete in large contests or smaller groups for daily rewards.

Best for: Players who want quick results and new challenges each day.

Drafting Your Team

Draft Types

  • Snake Draft – The draft order reverses each round (e.g., 1-10 in round 1, then 10-1 in round 2). This is the most common and balanced draft type.
  • Auction Draft – Each manager has a budget to bid on players. Strategic bidding and budget management are key.
  • Auto-Draft – Players are automatically assigned based on pre-ranked lists if you can’t attend the live draft.

Draft Preparation Tips

  • Research player stats, roles, and team situations
  • Create a tiered ranking system for each position
  • Identify sleepers (undervalued players) and busts (overvalued players)
  • Consider injury histories and risk factors
  • Balance your roster with scoring, rebounding, and assists

Managing Your Team

Daily Tasks

  • Set Your Lineup – Ensure your active players are playing that day and in your starting slots.
  • Check Injuries – Remove injured players from your active lineup.
  • Monitor Free Agents – Look for hot players or injury replacements available to add.
  • Analyze Matchups – Some players perform better against certain teams; use this to your advantage.

Strategic Moves

  • Trades – Propose and negotiate trades with other managers to improve your team.
  • Streaming – Rotating your last roster spot with players who have favorable short-term schedules.
  • Handcuffing – Drafting backup players for your stars as insurance against injuries.
  • Stashing – Holding injured players with potential for late-season returns.

Understanding Player Values

Player values in fantasy basketball are determined by several factors:

Factor Impact on Value
Statistical Output The raw numbers a player produces across scoring categories
Consistency Players with predictable performance are more valuable than high-variance players
Position Scarcity at certain positions increases value (e.g., elite centers)
Schedule Teams that play more games during fantasy playoff weeks provide more opportunities
Role & Minutes Starters and players with secure minutes are more reliable than bench players
Injury Risk Players with injury histories may be discounted despite high production

Advanced Strategies

Category Specialization

Instead of trying to be good at everything, focus on dominating specific statistical categories. This “punting” strategy can make your team elite in most categories while intentionally conceding others.

Schedule Optimization

Maximize games played by your roster by targeting players from teams with favorable schedules during key matchups or playoff weeks.

Trade Timing

Buy players when their value is low (slumps, minor injuries) and sell when their value is inflated (hot streaks, unsustainable performance).
